Job
Summary:
Responsible
for management of the Waste Facilities and Logistics (WFL)
organization assigned to support Waste Operations (WO) related
projects and functions doing work on the WVDP.
Report directly to the Vice President responsible for
the WO organization. Provide
direct oversight and management of all activities encompassed
in performing WO related mission fulfillment operations at
WVDP. Provide
management and oversight of operations that include the
following: waste
packaging and repackaging; waste size reduction, both remote
and contact handled; onsite waste handling and logistics;
preparation of shipments, management and oversight of field
activities (outside of facilities) involving the preparation
of waste for disposal; design and construction of a long term
storage capability for waste that will not be dispositioned
during the course of the contract.
Ensure that all facilities and operations under the
purview of WO are conducted within full compliance with all
nuclear safety, DOE Order, regulatory, and site requirements
and provisions.
Education
& Experience:
-
BA/BS in Environmental Science, Engineering or
related technical field from an accredited college or
university, plus a minimum of eleven (11) years of related
experience with
progressively increasing responsibility including a
minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory or management
position. Requires
a minimum of four (4) years of experience working at a
nuclear facility or DOE government contractor facility.
Requirements:
-
Experience in operating facilities within the DOE
Complex in compliance with the Department of Energy
Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS) and Conduct of
Operations.
-
Demonstrated adherence to site standards and
procedures to safely conduct operations.
-
Demonstrated experience leading Exempt/Bargaining
Unit/ Subcontractor integrated work teams to accomplish
safe and reliable operations.
-
Demonstrated experience in communication and
interfacing with the Department of Energy, and regulatory
agencies
-
Experience with Waste Handling, Packaging and
Transportation activities
-
Extensive working knowledge of tools, processes
and mechanisms for performance and control of operations
that are conducted in a remote environment including
manipulators, PARs, Brokks, overhead cranes, cameras, and
a range of similar tools.

Strategic Management in the development of
strategic plans for managing work execution, to include
facility utilization, managing hourly workforce
assignments, and establishing overall organizational goals
and objectives and methods of achievement
-
Operational Management in ensuring the development
of detailed Work Instruction Plans and/or Waste Procedures
that govern work objectives within purview, and ensuring
these are rigorously implemented and complied with;

Facility and Compliance management of facility
infrastructure to ensure compliance with Nuclear Safety
requirements (DSA/TSR), and all other DOE, regulatory, and
site requirements; and
-
Personnel Management, with direct oversight of a
staff of exempt, non-exempt and hourly bargaining unit
workforce. Experience must include demonstrated leadership
qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team
development. Must
be self-directed to establish priorities, work schedules,
control cost and meet deadlines.

Must be able to interpret and follow a wide
variety of guidelines, policies, laws, and established
practices to accomplish complex tasks.

Must have extensive Project Management background
in and EVMS environment.
Must possess proficiency and experience in
budgeting and preparation of work plans.
Must be able to establish project goals, policies
and performance standards; planning, staff, and managing
the work; monitoring performance and implementing
corrective actions.

Must be able to manage employees' salary planning,
training, job scope, personnel issues, and day-to-day
direction.

Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written
communication skills as well as highly developed
organizational skills.

Must be able to interface with individuals or
groups from inside and outside of the organization,
company and senior management.
